HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, President of the UAE, and HE Ferdinand Marcos Jr, President of the Philippines, engaged in meticulous discussions on Tuesday on bilateral relations and matters of common interest.
The leaders discussed cooperation and opportunities to strengthen ties, particularly in the economic, trade, investment and developmental fields, besides other key sectors that concern the shared development priorities and mutual interests of both nations.
UAE-Philippines bilateral relations in focus
Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the strong UAE-Philippines relations – as they continue to note considerable progress, especially in the area of development. He highlighted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
The discussions on Tuesday also covered a number of issues of shared concern. The UAE President reiterated his commitment to further improving relations in the years ahead for the benefit of both countries.
His Highness stated that the Emirates is interested in continuing discussions to facilitate a UAE-Philippines comprehensive economic partnership agreement to elevate trade and investment relations to better heights of mutual economic progress.
UAE and Philippines sign key MoUs and agreements
For his part, the Philippines President expressed his sincere appreciation to his Emirati counterpart, commending the UAE’s remarkable humanitarian efforts and its commitment to supporting communities address shared global challenges.
The UAE and the Philippines signed a number of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and agreements, focusing on areas such as culture, energy transition, extradition, and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.
