UAE issue the new banknote is being issued in the same blue colour, for easier identification and will go into circulation on Thursday, November 30
In a groundbreaking move, the UAE Central Bank has introduced a state-of-the-art polymer Dh500 banknote, slated to enter circulation on Thursday, November 30. The new currency, adorned in a distinct blue hue for easy identification, not only represents a significant upgrade in design but also underscores the UAE’s commitment to sustainable development.
The front side of the Dh500 banknote highlights the striking architecture of the Terra Sustainability Pavilion in Expo City Dubai. This visual ode reflects the nation’s dedication to a sustainable future, mirroring the visionary principles instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The reverse side features the awe-inspiring Museum of the Future in Dubai, seamlessly bridging the past and the future as an architectural marvel.
Prominently displayed on the reverse side are iconic landmarks, including the Emirates Towers and the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building standing at an impressive 828 meters. The Burj Khalifa, with over 160 floors, stands as a testament to sustainability, harnessing a significant portion of its power from solar energy.
In a strategic stride towards environmental responsibility, the UAE Central Bank opted for polymer material, enhancing the durability of the banknote by two or more times compared to traditional counterparts. This fully recyclable material significantly diminishes the environmental footprint associated with currency production.
Adding an advanced layer of security, the new banknote incorporates KINEGRAM COLORS®, a multicolored security chip technology. Notably, this positions the UAE as the first country in the Middle East to deploy the largest foil strip of its kind on banknotes. This technological leap follows the successful integration of similar features in the new version of the Dh1000 banknote, marking a pioneering initiative in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions to combat counterfeiting.
The issuance of the new Dh500 banknote not only signifies a tangible step towards innovation in currency design but also underscores the UAE’s continuous pursuit of sustainability, technology, and security in its financial landscape. As this cutting-edge currency enters circulation, it stands as a symbol of the nation’s forward-looking approach to finance and environmental responsibility.
