UAE Confirms Lay’s Chips Meet Safety Standards Amid Undeclared Milk Content Issues
“#MOCCAEUAE, in coordination with relevant regulatory authorities, confirms that Lays Chips products available in UAE markets comply with the country’s approved technical requirements and regulations. This clarification follows reports about the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalling certain Lays products due to undeclared milk derivatives. The ministry affirms that all food products undergo strict registration and inspection processes before being sold in UAE markets to ensure compliance with technical standards and protect consumer health,” as per the Ministry stated on the X.
Undeclared Milk Content Issues in Lays:
There were rumors that Lays chips in Dubai contained milk that wasn’t listed as an ingredient in 2019. Following this rumor, the US FDA issued an alert in December 2024. It stated that Lay’s Classic Potato Chips has the highest danger level Class I due to undeclared milk in it.
This controversy became serious when a consumer reported the presence of milk in the lays which is a main allergen that can cause serious or fatal responses in sensitive persons. This allergen content can give hives, rash, vomiting, difficulty in breathing and serious allergen leads to coma.
