UAE becoming a benchmark for quality of roads, public transport and port services

Issued this month by the World Economic Forum, the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024 ranked the UAE first in the Mena region and 18th globally. The Gulf state has climbed seven places from its earlier 25th position.

Thanks to its leadership’s vision, the UAE is among the top 20 countries for travel and tourism, as per the index. The report ranks 119 economies based on a set of factors and provides a tool for governments, companies and organisations to develop the evolving industry.

UAE adopting highest standards and best practices

The Middle East noted the highest recovery rates in the number of international tourist arrivals, compared to other regions. It appears international tourism is on the path to rise back to pre-pandemic levels in 2024.

Interestingly, the same TTDI 2024 report has also ranked the UAE fifth globally in road quality, ninth globally in the efficiency of port services and 10th globally in the efficiency of public transport services. The Gulf state grabbed the first spot among Arab countries.

Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, stressed that these results are attributed to the promising vision of the Emirati leadership and that they are a testament of the country’s long-term strategic plans.

UAE becoming a benchmark for quality infrastructure

“These achievements reflect our proactive approach and strategic planning in various sectors and reaffirm the UAE’s ambition to become a globally recognised innovation and excellence hub,” the minister further noted.

He highlighted their commitment to developing vibrant sectors and positioning the Emirates as a leading destination for business and leisure. “Ranking high on global indicators directly contributes to enhancing the confidence of international investors.”
