Saudi Arabia Downs Houthi Missile Amid Rising Regional Tensions
Saudi air defence systems have intercepted two ballistic missiles fired Thursday, 29th October 2026, towards Riyadh by the Yemen’s Houthis movement, Saudi-led coalition Secretary General told the Saudi Press Agency.
Several alerts were shared across several regions as a result of the incident and minor injuries and property damage occurred in the capital thanks to falling objects. The interceptions sync up with a broader upsurge of border incursions against the Kingdom.
Saudi Missile Interceptions Target Riyadh
Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman of the coalition, had said that Yemeni security forces forced down and destroyed two missiles headed toward Riyadh. The explosions were heard by residents when being intercepted. Later Saudi Civil Defence confirmed that debris had caused injury to one citizen and had caused damage to a house and a car.
Saudi Missile Interceptions Trigger Civil Defence Alerts
Saudi Civil Defence’s National Early warning platform was used to issue emergency warnings at regional stations of Riyadh, Al-Kharj and Najran. People were asked to “stay home and stay away from windows” during the alerts. The safety of the area was then called off by authorities.
Saudi Missile Interceptions Follow Wider Regional Attacks
This is not the first recently intercepted missile to hit the Eastern Province and western Saudi Arabia. The coalition also stated that it intercepted drones in the overall spate of attacks. The Houthis have stated that they’re extending their attacks against Saudi airports, military installations and energy installations that have not been recorded in the interception reports.
Saudi Missile Interceptions Raise Regional Security Concerns
Security fears have led to increased security in the Kingdom, especially at key population centres and strategic infrastructure. In the latest escalation clash between Houthis and Saudi-led coalition, emergency alerts and interception operations have entered the fray. Authorities are still asking that residents stick to safety guidelines and updates from officials.
