Women in Saudi Arabia are juggling roles in various industries and shattering glass ceilings, while also paving the way for the next generation. This Saudi National Day, The National spoke to women in different industries to learn about their experiences.
Rana Zumai is the senior director of corporate communications and knowledge at the Saudi Geological Survey, while also working as the vice president of the Professional Fashion Association Board. This Saudi woman juggles two lead roles in vastly different industries.
Vision 2030 Seeks An Ambitious Nation And Prosperous Future
“What we are witnessing today in terms of the quality in opportunity and development as Saudi women I don’t think any other part of the world has reached in such a short span of time, thanks the Vision 2030, the aspiration of our leadership,” Zumai noted.
Launched in 2016, the wide-ranging programme of economic and societal reform aims to overhaul everything from the business climate to education and women’s rights. It looks forward to creating a vibrant society in which all citizens can thrive and pursue their passions.
Through Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia plans to create an exciting and prosperous future for all – by providing a supportive business environment for businesses of all sizes and investing in education to prepare for the jobs of the future.
Additionally, the programme also seeks to create an ambitious nation committed to efficiency and accountability at all levels, including building a government that is effective, transparent, accountable, empowering and high-performing.
Saudi National Day Shines Light On A Seismic Shift
Currently in London, Ghadah AlHarthi works in research, strategy and content curation projects. She helps the international market better understand the Gulf market, its history and traditions. She has already worked on multiple mega projects, including royal palaces.

Vision 2030 unveiled opportunities, helping create a profound impact on the lives of Saudi women. It introduced a seismic shift, igniting a desire for “exploration and innovation”, calling on women to explore new horizons, said AlHarthi.
