As the downpours, powerful winds and risks of flooding continue to sweep through various regions, Saudi Arabia prepares itself for the impending fury of Nature. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) in Saudi Arabia expects these weather conditions to hold till Thursday, February 20th, affecting regions like Riyadh, Mecca, Medina, Ha’il, Al Qassim, the Eastern Province and the Northern Borders.
Jeddah will feel the most impact being subject to intense gusts of localized flooding and hail storms throughout the governorates of Taif, Maysan, Adham, Al Ardiyat and Turubah. Other regions like Al Baha will get light showers until Tuesday with wind and dust storms anticipated in Riyadh, Najran and Al Jawf.
NCM has also warned of winds of about 40-49 km/h especially in Jeddah, Shuaiba and Al Leith which have disruptions in versatility, navigation and their interface with maritime activities. On the other hand, Jazan and several areas in Mecca remain under scrutiny for active winds and thunderstorms.
Authorities have requested residents to take caution and to remain away from places of incidence asking them to keep abreast of updates through official channels. Driving would require due caution since visibility is low, there exist certain cases of water accumulation on roads which is a pose risk.
