Saudi Arabia to Host UN Internet Governance Forum 2024

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is an annual event convened by the United Nations to bring together experts worldwide for collaborative discussions on international trends and policies in Internet governance. The IGF assembles representatives from over 160 countries, including more than 1,000 distinguished speakers who are experts and specialists in Internet governance. This significant gathering includes over 300 sessions, workshops, launches, awards, and cooperative agreements spread across five days. These activities foster the exchange of experiences, success stories, and best practices related to public policy issues concerning the Internet.

Saudi Arabia’s Leadership in Digital Inclusion
Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has reaffirmed the nation’s global leadership in enhancing digital inclusion and promoting a thriving and inclusive digital economy. This commitment aligns with the unwavering support from the country’s leaders, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Riyadh’s Role in Hosting IGF
Eng. Ahmed bin Mohammed Alsuwaiyan, Governor of the Digital Government Authority, highlighted the significance of Riyadh being chosen to host this global forum. This selection recognizes Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in maximizing the impact of digital infrastructure to achieve sustainable development goals and benefit communities and businesses. It underscores the nation’s advanced position in communications, information technology, and digital governance, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
