To protect children’s personal data, representatives of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority have started an awareness campaign.

The initiative is a part of the authority’s commitment to safeguard children’s rights regarding the processing of their personal data, protect their privacy, and comply with laws and child rights conventions. It was timed to coincide with International Children’s Day.

The goal of the SDAIA is to teach kids how to stay off of inappropriate websites. The initiative comes in response to the increasing importance of safeguarding children’s privacy in the digital age.

It is recommended that families download files and games from reputable sources only, and that they periodically check the personal information that is stored on a child’s device, in electronic games, or on social media platforms.

The authorities issued a warning against sharing personal information with unknown websites, including names, home addresses, or photos, and uploading images of children or family members online.

Parents were advised to monitor their child’s device, stay alert, and keep an eye on any files or games that are being downloaded.

The AI leaders underscored the significance of empowering parents, educators, and caregivers with the knowledge and tools necessary to ensure a secure online environment for children. Educational resources and guidelines will be disseminated to help adults navigate the intricacies of managing children’s digital presence and protecting their sensitive information.

The National Framework for Child Safety on the Internet was unveiled last week during the Sixth Saudi Family Forum for Child Safety on the Internet, and the SDAIA is helping to put it into practise.

The Saudi initiative aligns with global efforts to address the unique challenges posed by the digital landscape for the younger demographic. With children increasingly engaging with online content and platforms, the responsible use of AI technologies to enhance privacy measures is a crucial step forward.

The campaign also aims to collaborate with tech companies, educational institutions, and regulatory bodies to establish industry-wide best practices for handling children’s personal data responsibly. By fostering cooperation among stakeholders, Saudi AI leaders seek to create a safer digital ecosystem that prioritizes the well-being and privacy of young users.

In conclusion, the campaign initiated by Saudi AI leaders reflects a forward-thinking approach to addressing the evolving challenges of the digital age, particularly concerning the protection of children’s personal data. As technology advances, such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping a responsible and secure digital future for the younger generation.
