Located in Saudi’s futuristic Qiddiya City atop the breathtaking 200 m-high Tuwaiq cliff and just 40 minutes from the capital Riyadh, the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium is anticipated to host some of the Kingdom’s biggest sports, entertainment and cultural events.

The stadium is expected to further enhance the megacity’s philosophy of the Power of Play – a concept that leverages decades of research showing play is important for human cognitive development, emotional expression, social skills, creativity and physical health.

The iconic multi-use venue seeks to attract people from across the globe and revolutionise the traditional stadium experience through its immersive design and unique technological features, putting spectators at the centre of the show.

Commenting on the launch, the managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company said the stadium is set to become a bucket-list destination for fans and enthusiasts, hosting major events from the booming sector of sport and entertainment.

Designed by leading architectural firm Populous, the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium is set to have a combined retractable roof, pitch and LED wall – an architectural innovation offering unparalleled versatility and transforming the space into different “event modes”.

Guests can enjoy multiple spectacles in a single day, including football, boxing, esports, concerts and theatre performances to name a few. Conveniently, the stadium is also near shopping, dining and entertainment spaces, and hotel options.

Hosting events all year round in climate-controlled facilities

Once open, the 45,000-seat multifunctional stadium is expected to serve as the home ground of Saudi Pro League football clubs. It is also one of the proposed venues for the country’s FIFA 2034  bid, and may even host the the Asian Cup and the 2034 Asian Games.

The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium is capable of hosting events all year round in its climate-controlled facilities. Its launch follows the unveiling of Qiddiya City’s multi-use Gaming and Esports District. More announcements are due in the coming days.
