More About The Recent Collaboration of OCHA and Qatar:
This is an expansion of earlier ones that Qatar Charity and OCHA in Yemen have inked in the past years to offer emergency assistance to the most vulnerable displaced individuals, host communities, and those impacted by the Yemeni crisis.
The water project, as stipulated in the signed agreement, intends to construct 35 toilets, monitor the quality of the water in eight wells in the Ibb Governorate and nine wells in the Taiz Governorate, and establish two water collection tanks in the Taiz villages of Al Barasha and Al Juwaih.
By raising target groups’ knowledge of environmental and health issues, it is anticipated that this project will help to promote healthy lifestyle choices. It will also lessen the suffering of the displaced in the governorates of Ibb and Taiz and offer them access to water and sanitary facilities. Beneficiaries are anticipated to total 118,721 individuals.
The health services agreement that was signed will also support nine health facilities in Taiz and Ibb. It will pay for the salaries of the staff who work there, the costs of running the facilities, the cost of buying medication, medical supplies, and laboratory equipment, as well as emergency transportation.About 61,625 displaced people will have access to primary healthcare services thanks to this project.
Prior to the current year, Qatar Charity and OCHA signed three cooperation agreements worth more than QR 5 million to carry out projects in the areas of environmental sanitation, water, and health in three Yemeni governorates: Ibb, Al Hudaydah, and Hajjah. About 121,000 displaced Yemenis and the host community benefited from Qatar Charity’s distribution of medications and medical supplies to eight health centres and units, as well as its payment of incentives to over 80 medical worker cadres in Hajjah and Hodeidah. These actions were carried out in collaboration with OCHA and the Yemeni Ministry of Health.
