Qatar Opens Polling for Constitutional Vote

On Tuesday, citizens of Qatar aged 18 years and above will head to the polls in a historic referendum and vote on proposed constitutional amendments by 2024. A testimonial of the excellent relationship existing between the Qatari people and their leadership for the strengthening of national unity and social status, the referendum will be held as decreed by No. 87 of 2024. The voting process will take place between 7 am and 7 pm, allowing everyone to vote using either the old traditional paper ballot or the modern electronic voting methods to achieve the highest participation.
For this reason, the General Referendum Committee has set up many voting stations in different parts of Qatar to ensure the smooth holding of the referendum. The voters can either vote through paper ballot at selected sports facilities such as Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena or Al Duhail Sports Club or go for electronic voting through selected shopping malls. The electronic voting committees are situated in places like Hamad International Airport, Mall of Qatar, and Doha Festival City.
For the citizens who are unable to go to the polling stations, there is also an alternative in the Metrash2 application for voting remotely from any country or Qatar. The committee has provided adequate coverage with extra electronic polling committees at Villaggio Mall, West Walk, and for the male and female Qatar University special facilities.
These draft amendments have been approved in different spheres of social life and it can be seen with the cooperation between the legislative and the executive branches of the state. In the light of the vision enshrined by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar these changes are towards the improvement of Unity, Justice, and Equality for the way towards citizenship. The voting is expected to take 24 hours after which the results of the referendum should be announced.
