Oman joins Artemis Accords

On January 26, 2026, the Sultanate of Oman marked a historic milestone in its aerospace ambitions by becoming the 61st nation to sign the Artemis Accords. The contract was signed at the Middle East Space Conference in Muscat, which established Oman as a partner in the safe, sustainable, and transparent exploration of outer space. The Sultanate was represented at the signing of the agreement by Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, Said al-Maawali, and NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman gave remarks to invite Oman to become a part of the international community of participating countries in cooperation without aggression in space.

Strategic Benefits of the Artemis Accords for Oman

Joining the Artemis Accords aligns perfectly with “Oman Vision 2040,” the nation’s roadmap for economic diversification and technological advancement. The collaboration with NASA and other countries which are signatory to the agreement gives Oman access to a large pool of scientific information, technical knowledge and joint prospects in the lunar and deep-space missions. This collaboration is set to introduce faster growth of the local space industry in Oman, with the innovation of satellite technology and high-technology employment of the new generation of Omani scientists and engineers.

Strengthening Global Ties via the Artemis Accords

The inclusion of Oman in the Artemis Accords underscores the growing importance of the Middle East in the future of space governance. Oman is among the 61 signatories and a wide variety of countries committed to upholding values which are based on the Outer Space Treaty of 1967. This action will not only help to enhance the diplomatic relationship with the United States but also make the Sultanate an influential regional player in the rapidly emerging space-based economy, with its national interests reflected in the new age of human exploration. formore news updates, visit our Gulf Independent News page.
