On October 18, 2023, Mussanah Race Week, presented by Renaissance Services, will return for its 12th year. Over 90 sailors from nine countries, including participants in Oman Sail’s SailFree initiative, are anticipated. Racing in the Optimist, ILCA 4, and Open categories, ILKA6 and ILKA7, as well as the RS Venture Connect for individuals with disabilities, will showcase the sport’s diversity in an impeccable setting at the Barceló Mussanah Resort.
During Mussanah Race Week, sailors will have the opportunity to participate in four days of racing after three days of top-notch instruction in the classroom and on the water. Training sessions on the water will concentrate on boat handling, speed, starting strategies, and tactics. During onshore sessions, participants will learn about race strategy, rules, fitness, nutrition, and sports psychology. This will allow them to grow as sailors and share knowledge.
Before the race, guests will have the chance to immerse themselves in Omani culture and enjoy a laid-back evening with genuine Omani hospitality.

“We are looking forward to welcoming many of the world’s best and most promising young sailors to Mussanah Race Week,” stated Shaima al Asmi, the project manager for the event. Mussanah Race Week has been the perfect platform for Oman to showcase its abilities to host a major international event, use sport to foster strong relationships between competitors from diverse backgrounds and engage the world in our culture for the past 12 years. We anticipate having one of the strongest fleets the event has ever had this year, which will put our sailors to the test and give us a look at several future sports champions.
The Chief People Officer of Renaissance Services, Issa al Aufi, continued, “Renaissance is dedicated to making investments in Oman’s future, particularly the youth. We take great pride in our sponsorship of Mussanah Race Week, a distinguished and highly anticipated event on the national sailing calendar that gives Omani sailors a chance to compete against and pick the brains of some of the world’s top sailors in their age group.
All classes race over four days, with the prize-giving and closing ceremonies taking place on October 24, 2023.
