UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has congratulated his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has congratulated his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, also dispatched similar messages.

The UAE and China established diplomatic relations back in November 1984. The historic visit of HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, Father of the Nation, in 1990 is considered one of the most significant visits by a UAE official, resulting in the signing of many agreements.

40th anniversary of establishment of UAE-China relations

Both countries have exchanged numerous visits over the years at different levels, including presidents, heads of government, ministers, governors and parliament leaders. HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed visited China on a high-profile trip in 2019.

The UAE and China celebrated the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations that year. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also visited the country in 2019 to attend the prominent Belt and Road Forum.

On the Chinese side, President Xi Jinping visited the UAE in 2019. Both sides signed the comprehensive strategic partnership, marking the highest level of diplomatic relations. The UAE-China relationship is based on mutual respect and trust.

UAE and China committed to bolstering partnership

UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed embarked on an official state visit to the UAE in May 2024, after concluding a trip to South Korea. He met his Chinese counterpart to discuss bilateral relations and opportunities to expand the comprehensive strategic partnership.
