Indian PM Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Discuss Ways to Deepen Strategic Partnership

On 18th September, the Prime Minister of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, spoke to the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on the phone passing through Abu Dhabi to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and UAE.

The discussion took place shortly after the New Delhi BRICS Summit when the UAE was in India’s chairmanship. Sheikh Mohamed also greeted Prime Minister Modi and congratulated him for India’s successful role in the Presidency of the BRICS.

India-UAE Partnership Enters New Phase

At the meeting the two leaders talked about the development of new measures for enhancing cooperation in a number of strategic areas. The areas highlighted were energy, defence, technology, investment and health and reflected the far-reaching bilateral partnership.

This is a flowing engagement between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi, with the discussion focused on this. Sheikh Mohamed had visited India in January 2026 at the earlier occasion, and in May Prime Minister Modi had visited UAE.

UAE’s Role in India’s BRICS Presidency

Sheikh Mohamed congratulated Modi on India’s successful leadership in the BRICS process. Modi expressed his appreciation to the role played by the UAE in the summit and to its partnership.

India and the UAE have also leveraged the BRICS engagement to take forward the INA’s agenda and build a closer relationship between the two countries. In a recent meeting with Modi, Sheikh Khaled discussed enhanced collaboration in multiple areas such as defence, space, energy, technology and innovation.

Leaders Discuss West Asia Stability

The discussion was also on the developments in West Asia. The Presidents reiterated their trust in further cooperation and coordination to enhance peace, security and stability in the region.
