The Gaza conflict has taken center stage as the Kuwait National Assembly opens its new term, signifying the enduring importance of the Palestinian issue in the Gulf region. As per the report from “Asharq Al-Awsat,” the Kuwaiti parliament is keen on addressing the ongoing crisis in Gaza and expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

The start of the Kuwaiti National Assembly’s new legislative term on Tuesday was dominated by the tragic events taking place in the Palestinian territories.

Kuwait’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause was reiterated by Crown Prince Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who also demanded an immediate ceasefire and the passage of humanitarian and relief aid.

In a speech marking the beginning of the National Assembly’s second session of the 17th legislative term, he underlined Kuwait’s support for all initiatives aiming at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict fairly and comprehensively that is consistent with international legitimacy.

“The government, people, National Assembly, and leadership of the State of Kuwait are denouncing the brutal Israeli aggression’s attacks and are closely monitoring the bloody events occurring in the Palestinian territories, particularly the Gaza Strip,” stated Crown Prince Mishal.

He continued, “We reiterate Kuwait’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian issue and call for a ceasefire that permits the entry of humanitarian and relief aid.”

Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmed Al-Saadoun stressed that Israel was directly behind the eviction and transfer of Gaza residents.

Al-Saadoun charged that Israel was carrying out acts that amounted to genocide.

“We are closely monitoring the severe attacks on the Palestinian people and call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the region,” Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said during the session. We further demand that humanitarian aid be sent to our Palestinian brothers and sisters as soon as possible.

He conveyed his profound concern about the worsening circumstances in Gaza brought on by the ongoing aggression against civilians.

He criticized the UN Security Council in particular for its silence and accused it of having double standards.

He underlined how important it is for the international community to guarantee that there is an instant ceasefire and that civilians are kept safe.

A broader message about the enduring significance of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Middle East, as well as the role that regional actors like Kuwait play in advocating for a peaceful resolution to this longstanding issue.
