Kuwait Airport T4 reopening 2026

Terminal 4 (T4) at Kuwait international airport has finally reopened after almost two months of suffering and upheaval to its aviation industry. In May 2026, the terminal opened and is now connecting 29 destinations around the world, which can provide essential global connectivity.

This reopening occurred after a 57-day closure, due to regional tensions and destruction of infrastructure, which led to the reopening of T4 one of the most discussed events in Kuwait today.

Why is Terminal 4?

Terminal 4 has been in the limelight since it is the sole terminal of Kuwait Airways. As the national carrier is at the forefront of recovery, the terminal has become the main port through which international travel is impacted.

On May 3, Kuwait Airways announced 13 new destinations, becoming the airline to operate in 29 cities. These consist of major world hubs like London, Paris, Dubai, Bangkok, Mumbai and Cairo

Operational Readiness and Safety Clearance

T4 also had large -scale safety inspections, carried out by Incheon Korea Airports Services before reopening.

The terminal is also one of the earliest to be fully operational cleared and all the systems like passenger handling, security and many more all met the international standards. It has enabled the authorities to be sure of resuming flights despite other areas in the airport still being repaired.

What Has Befuddled Terminal 1?

T4 is back but Terminal 1 (T1) remains closed because it has been extensively damaged due to previous incidents. Repair efforts are still being carried out more so to the critical infrastructures such as radar systems and fuel storage facilities.

Consequently, all the international traffic in terms of passengers is taken care of using both Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 creating more pressure on the terminals that are currently operational.

Travel Policies

It is important to note that in May 2026, the client travelling through T4 should be informed that operations are yet not in their normal operations. Governments have also implemented stringent measures to control safety and capacity.

It has limited entrances where the passengers can only access the terminal through the building of car parking. Also, only passengers with a ticket can be inside–companors not.

Limited Operating Hours

Terminal 4 now operates on a limited 12-hour schedule, between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM daily, unlike its permanent schedule before it was closed.

Flights that have been booked out of these times are being rescheduled or rerouted. This is a temporary solution to control the congestions and allow the operations flow much easier during the recovery.
