Indian Embassy Doha repatriation

The Indian Embassy in Doha has intensified its activities in trying to help Indian nationals who are stuck in Qatar since the latest developments in the region in terms of security and the following airspace block. In a formal statement posted on the X platform, the Embassy verified that a lot has been achieved in ensuring that citizens are safely returned and offering essential emergency consular services to the affected individuals.

Successful Evacuation and Upcoming Flights

Based on the recent developments, over 500 of the Indian nationals have been able to travel in-and-out of Qatar to India and other destinations in the world. In close collaboration with Qatar Airways, the Embassy made it easy to fly to great Indian airports such as New Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi. Although airspace in Qatar is still not fully open, as this has led to a considerable amount of overall flight activities, the Embassy reported that they were continuing to plan more relief flights. Moreover, the Embassy was profoundly grateful to Qatar Airways that it allowed urgent humanitarian cases, including repatriation of mortal remains within the difficult operation period.

Embassy Extends Services and Passport Assistance

The Indian Embassy has increased its operating hours in case of such abrupt disruptions, as they realize that they are in urgent need of valid travel documents. The Embassy is now staying open throughout the 7 days of the week to ensure that the workers and short term visitors are able to go home safely. It is paying particular focus on quick issuance of emergency certificates and passports. In the present situation, the Embassy assured that Tatkal passport case is being given priority and was being done within an expedited period of one to two days.

Alternative Travel Routes and Transit Options

To the people who cannot get reservation on the direct air routes which are few, the Embassy is busy helping people in alternative land transportation. The Indian nationals with an authentic Saudi Arabian visa- or those who are entitled to a visa waiver- can use the Salwa land crossing as the means to leave Qatar. To facilitate this process, the Embassy remains to assist people in getting a temporary 96-hour transit visa to Saudi Arabia, so that the stranded passengers can legally cross the border and board outbound international flights at the Saudi airports.

Safety Advisories and Community Support

Embassy still urges all Indian residents and short-term visitors to pay special attention to the safety measures proposed by the Qatari authorities and the Ministry of Interior. It is recommended that citizens should not ignore official warnings and ensure that they report any unidentified debris to local emergency services at once. At the same time, the three 24/7 helplines of the Embassy are operational in full force to respond to the inquiries of the population and offer quick emergency help. The dynamic and continuous coordination of the Embassy, Qatari officials, the Indian community volunteer organisations reflect on the concerted and strong endeavour to keep the Indian diaspora safe.
