If you are a Dubai Metro Baby, RTA might just sponsor your higher education

Something big keeps happening in Dubai year round, and this time it’s related to Dubai Metro. The city is preparing for a major milestone as its iconic Metro turns 15 on September 9, 2024. If there is any chance your birthday is on that particular date, you are in for a lot of benefits.

To mark the occasion, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an initiative to honour the ‘Metro Baby’ born on the same day as the driverless train first hit the tracks – essentially on September 9, 2009.

Tell us, are you a Dubai Metro Baby?

The RTA is offering a special academic sponsorship to select Metro babies. Eligible students must be:

1. A UAE national

2. Have a cumulative GPA of 90% or higher

3. Pursuing studies in electromechanical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, data science and computer science – especially in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

The scholarship is certainly going to be a game-changer, providing financial support for higher education. But it’s not the entire thing. The upcoming celebrations are not limited to just academic perks. There are other benefits, too.

On September 21, LEGOLAND Dubai is planning a special party for any Metro Baby born on any day in the period from September 9, 2009, to September 9, 2023. Interested parents can sign up their little ones for all the fun on the RTA’s official site.

Stunning performances to feature Dubai’s vibrant diversity

There is more. From September 21 to 27, people across the Emirates can get an opportunity to enjoy live musical performances at a number of different Metro stations, featuring a vibrant and enjoyable blend of Emirati and international artists.

It’s going to be a long musical journey featuring the diverse and vibrant culture of Dubai. In addition, 5,000 lucky residents can get a chance to grab discount Nol cards by finding a special code on limited-edition Metro-shaped ice cream sticks.
