Saudi Arabia has made a significant move towards digital transformation, as the application of the Unified National Visa Platform has been approved by the Saudi Cabinet, led by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. Under management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the platform turns into the Kingdom’s only official portal to process all visas.

What is the Unified National Visa Platform?

The Unified National Visa Platform is a single, national, digital visa platform that brings together Saudi Arabia’s visa services. Rather than having to fill out multiple applications for various visa types, they all can be done through one online application.

The system is connected with ministries of immigration, tourism, labour, Hajj and internal security to check the documentation procedures speed up and stop the need for duplicate documents.

Step 1: Access the Official Portal

First go to the official MOFA visa site as it is now the MOFA’s only official visa platform. Existing subscribers to the previous platform from Injaz will be able to move to the new platform; new subscribers will be able to register using passport info and verify e-mail.

Citizens and residents of the GCC countries may also be allowed to log-on using national digital identity systems (Absher or Nafath) as available.

Step 2: Complete Identity Verification

After “Register”, the applicants will establish identity before taking the visa application process.

The application will require that the user provide a copy of the passport or a photograph of the face, or carry out extra Electronic validations (scanning of the Electronic Passport with NFC devices included in the Smartphones, for example).

Hajj or Umrah visas

The different categories will automatically create the relevant application form, according to the purpose of travel selected.

Step 4: Upload Required Documents

Passport copies
Employment contracts
Invitation letters
Hotel reservations
Business documents
Supporting travel information

Step 5: Pay All Fees in One Transaction

UNVP is different to previous systems that needed multiple payments as all charges will be consolidated under a single secure payment process.

Applicants will be able to deposit visa fees, visa processing fees and compulsory health insurance at the same time through cards issued in their country or wallet app and regional accepted payment methods.

Step 6: Track Your Application

Once an applicant submits a project, he/she will be provided with a real-time tracking dashboard.

Each step of the approval process is displayed in the system and the user can follow what department in the Government is looking at their application in the system and even get updates without calling customer support.

Step 7: Get the Digital eVisa

The applicant will be issued with a valid eVisa with a secure QR code once approved. The approved visa is forwarded directly to the applicant by email and stored on the online account and securely attached to the applicant’s passport.

The system is digital, so for applicants who are qualified, the process of visiting the embassy or a physical visa sticker is no longer necessary.
