Saudi Arabia has announced that gas cylinders and portable cooking stoves are strictly prohibited to enter and be used in the holy precincts during the Hajj to be held in 2026. Authorities stepped up safety measures ahead of the high season of the pilgrimage and the rule came into effect Monday, 28th May, 2026.
The Saudi Directorate General of Civil Defense confirmed that this decision was to minimize fire risks and avoid hazardous overcrowding situations inside pilgrim camps and residential areas. Teams of inspection activities are already working in Mina, Muzdalifah and Arafat.

New units subject to the latest drive are all models of LPG apparatus, such as portable camping gas containers, compact cooking stoves used by travellers and industrial LPG cylinders.
