In a remarkable development, His Excellency Dr Robert Habeck, Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany, and a trade delegation accompanying him is currently in Oman, exploring investment opportunities.
Her Excellency Maitha bint Saif Al Mahrouqi explained the visit of the delegation is in accordance with the plan of the Embassy of Oman in Berlin and the Foreign Ministry, to learn about investment opportunity in various sectors targeted in Oman Vision 2040.
“Renewable energy, gas, logistical transport and food security”
The ambassador of Oman to Germany indicated that most of the topics discussed revolved around the investment climate in Oman and the incentives offered. She hoped such trips would culminate in signing agreements that would revitalise the Omani economy.
In a statement to the Oman News Agency, Her Excellency noted: “The visit … came with the aim of searching for new markets and entering into commercial partnerships, especially in renewable energy, gas, logistical transport and food security.”
Talks also covered the search for new markets for gas and the possibility of importing Omani gas in larger quantities, especially amid the rise in prices in Europe in general and Germany in particular as a result of the Russia-Ukraine situation, as per Times of Oman.
She also indicated that the role of the Embassy of Oman in Berlin is to build bridges of communication between all sectors and offer investors from Oman and Germany information related to investment opportunities available in different sectors in both countries.

In addition, Her Excellency also highlighted that the volume of German investments in Oman amounted to more than 10 million Omani Riyals in 2022, according to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
Regarding the tourism sector, she underscored Oman is set to be the official partner of the largest travel and tourism exhibition on the planet in Berlin for 2024. The event is scheduled to be held at the beginning of next March.
