GCC Summit Participants Reiterate Support For Morocco's Territorial Integrity

The leaders of GCC countries – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar – have reiterated their support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara and for the preservation of the security and stability of the North African Kingdom and its territorial integrity.

The support is highlighted in the final statement released at the end of the 44th Gulf Cooperation Council Summit in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday. The participants affirmed their backing to the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2703 issued on October 30 this year.

Special Strategic Partnership Between GCC And Morocco

The resolution called on all parties to the conflict – Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria and Polisario – “to continue the round-table political process and work together to achieve a realistic, enduring and mutually acceptable political solution based on compromise.”

The final statement underscored the special strategic partnership between the Council and Morocco. At the same time, the GCC leaders also congratulated the North African Kingdom on FIFA’s approval of its bid alongside Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup.

The Doha GCC Summit reiterated strong denunciation of the ongoing Gaza war, affirming full support to “the brotherly people of Palestine”. The leaders stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire to ensure the delivery of aid and the resumption of basic supplies.

Netanyahu “is pushing the entire region into danger”

They appreciated the joint mediation efforts of Qatar, Egypt and the US, that paved the way for an agreement for a humanitarian pause. The seven-day-long truce saw relief supplies entering the enclave, with Hamas releasing Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
