Biggest Matches to Watch

There will be some of the most competitive games in the Round of 16 with several big matches up for grabs. It’s going to be an exciting match-up between South American excitement and European form if Brazil has the chance to take on Norway.

Along with the England – Mexico clash will come a match-up of two of international football’s biggest rivalries: Portugal vs. Spain before a zealous home supporters’ following. There’s another big showdown for the Statesmen in a big draw knockout game to come as well when they play Belgium.

World Cup 2026 Knockout Bracket

The tournament is now run in a simple single-elimination format. All winning teams enter the quarter-finals at once and the losing team is eliminated without going through any playoffs.

Bracket Section 1

In the Qualifiers the finalists will be the winning team from Canada (M90) and from Paraguay (M89) and will match up against each other in the quarter-finals.

Bracket Section 2

The winner of Brazil vs Norway (M91) will go on to play the winner of Mexico vs England (M92).

Bracket Section 3

It will be Spain facing Portugal in a semi-final and the United States facing Belgium in a semi-final.

Bracket Section 4

The third quarter final draw will be drawn from the survivors of Match 95 and 96 to include the winner of each match, thus defining the final quarter final between the winner of Match 95 and the winner of Match 96.

How the Knockout Format Works?

This is unlike the main draw where draws are not allowed in knockout football. A match will end if it is tied at the end of regulation (90 minutes), and will have 30-minutes of extra time (15 minutes each half). If the score is still tied, the game will then move on to a penalty shootout to decide who will move to the semi-finals. Each knock out match will then yield a victor and a loser.

Road to the FIFA World Cup Final

The top eight teams from the Round of 16 will take part in a draw for the semi-finals, which is expected to start on Sunday. The two teams who came out the winners of the semi-finals will then face in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final on July 19, 2026, to crown the next trophy holder.

As some of football’s most significant names continue to fight in the twisting throws of play, the next few days should bring a penalty shootout that leaves fans in awe and extra-time drama and twists.
