Etihad Rail Passenger Trains Start Today: Ticket Booking, Abu Dhabi-Fujairah Route Timings & Station Locations

UAE launched Etihad Rail Passenger services today which marks a historical landmark in the public transportation industry in the UAE. The launch is also the first part of the country’s much-anticipated eastern spread railway network which will provide quicker, more convenient travel connections between emirates.

This first passenger run is offering a service between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, which will cut journey time between the two. The new railway will pave the way for an improved intercity travel experience in the UAE with modern trains, comfortable cabins and tickets being available at affordable rates to get customers started.

Abu Dhabi to Fujairah in Just 1 Hour and 45 Minutes

The first operational line runs from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah direct, departing from Abu Dhabi connecting to Fujairah in around 1 hour and 45 minutes. It saves almost an hour in travel time when compared to driving and offers a more comfortable and relaxed journey.

Passenger contains 13 lines of diesel trains which can reach 200km/h. The trains serve about half of the trains’ passenger capacity, which is around 400 seats per train, making the service appropriate for commutes and leisure trips.

Daily Train Timings

Etihad Rail is turning its first trains to customers departing from its hub in three schedules per hour in each direction. The passenger stations are open every day from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Fujairah to Abu Dhabi

• Morning: 05:34 AM
• Afternoon: 10:59 AM
• Evening: 05:28 PM

Abu Dhabi to Fujairah

• Morning: 08:19 AM
• Afternoon: 01:53 PM
• Evening: 06:39 PM

The passengers are invited to come early, especially in the period of launching it, as it is expected that demand will be high.

Passenger Station Locations

The first phase of the network is based on two newly built passenger terminals with smooth integration to bus, taxi and car sharing.

The terminal for the Abu Dhabi terminal will be at Mohammad bin Zayed City Passenger Train Station and the terminal for the passengers coming from the east coast will be at Al Hilal City Passenger Train Station, Fujairah.

A modern passenger facility to facilitate boarding and improve the overall passenger experience is provided at both stations.

Tickets are available now on the Etihad Rail official website as well as the newly unveiled Etihad Rail mobile application.

To mark the opening, Etihad Rail is also running a 50% introductory offer which makes the opening flights even more enticing.

Please book at an early stage in the first few weeks as there is likely to be continued demand for passengers.

Ticket Prices and Cabin Classes

There are currently two classes of travel offered by Etihad Rail; this ensures it caters for a variety of travellers.

Comfort class begins at AED 55 (one way) with the introductory discount. Enjoy anti-fatigue seating, ample legroom, power outlets and free Wi-Fi during your trip.

Premium Class will cost from AED 120 one-way and feature plush recline seats, extra legroom, soundproof aircraft, free meals and drinks.

Future Expansion of the Etihad Rail Passenger Network

Today’s launch culminates just the first nationwide rollout for a passenger railway. The network is set for continued growth during the next few months, and is expected to reach an even greater size by the end of the year.

September 30, 2026, the upgrade of the passenger service will be extended to Dubai (Jumeirah Golf Estates) and Al Dhaid in Sharjah.

The stations in Al Dhafra region (Al Sila, Al Dhannah and Madinat Zayed) will be opened on 30th of December 2026.

The terminal station of Sharjah University City will be opened as part of the last phase, on March 30, 2027, bringing the national passenger rail network to a complete end.
