Cristiano Ronaldo has done it again. In a thrilling semi-final match at King Cup of Champions, Al Nassr defeated Al Khaleej 3-1 as the Portuguese star player ensured goals at 17′ and 57′ and Sadio Mané’s penalty goal at 37′ added to their lead.
The victory fixed Al Nassr’s position in the final, also reached by Al Hilal, a team promising intense clashes. Statistics also back Al Nassr’s superiority in the recent match – 21 shots and 12 on target compared to 9 shots and 2 on target for Al Khaleej.
Al Khaleej received 1 yellow card and Al Nassr received none. Fawaz Al Torais of the former team scored a goal at 82′. But it turned out to be the only solace though as the opponent held strong to guarantee their position in the final.
Things remained tense even after halftime
During the match, Cristiano Ronaldo demonstrated his predatory tendencies by taking advantage of a defensive blunder. A misplaced back pass by Lisandro Lopez put Goalie Ibrahim Sehic in a dangerous situation, letting the Portuguese to slide the ball into the net.
In fact, it could be one of the best goals from Saudi Arabia. Next, Ivo Rodrigues touched the ball inside the box and Mane scored from the penalty spot to give his team a bigger advantage just before halftime. Things remained interesting later on too.
Despite changes made at halftime, Al Khaleej couldn’t stop the opponent. Ronaldo scored his second goal at 57′. After using up all of their substitutions, Mohammed Al Khabrani’s injury at 77′ left Al Khaleej with just 10 players for the remaining match.
