Champions League 2024-25: Kylian Mbappe crosses 500-goal mark

Last night, Premier League champions Manchester City’s Champions League 2024-25 campaign ended in a disappointment at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid, Spain, as Kylian Mbappe’s hat-trick offered Real Madrid a spot in the last 16.

Man City had been trying to come out of a 3-2 deficit from the first leg. But the team quickly fell behind as the French footballer scored just 4 minutes in. Their situation started turning south as defender John Stones sustained injuries during the match.

Kylian Mbappe extended Real Madrid’s lead in the match as he scored for the second time in the 33rd minute. His hat-trick happened after the hour mark. Spectators at the stadium rejoiced and the footballer’s prolific goals are making global headlines.

In the second leg, Manchester City managed to pull one goal – but it could not help the team skip a frustrating night. Mbappe has crossed 500 goals across all competitions in his professional career and he only turned 26 last December.

Kylian Mbappe is the youngest player to reach the milestone of 500 goal contributions. His goal tally stands at an incredible 359 and there are an additional 142 assists to his name. He has already lifted countless trophies in different competitions.
