Discover Beko’s latest plot twist, a murder mystery that unfolds in the kitchen, blending suspense, intrigue, and culinary delights

The Scene is Set

Global appliance company Beko has recently launched a thrilling new ad campaign titled “The Beko Inheritance.” Collaborating with agency VML Germany & UK, this commercial pays homage to suspenseful murder mystery films while spotlighting the long-lasting durability of Beko’s appliances.

The Plot Unfolds

In “The Beko Inheritance,” we meet three elderly siblings grappling with their father’s recent passing. As they gather to discuss their father’s heirloom, tensions rise. One sibling claims to be the favorite child, while another insists that good things come to those who wait. Meanwhile, their mother sits quietly in the corner, seemingly uninvolved in the heated debate.

The Unexpected Twist

Just when we think we’ve unraveled the family drama, a surprising turn of events occurs. The coveted heirloom, the centerpiece of their dispute, is revealed to be none other than a Beko refrigerator. Yes, you read that correctly—a kitchen appliance becomes the unexpected focal point of their inheritance.

Beyond Traditional Advertising

Directed by OB42’s Jack Howard, this one-minute short film goes beyond typical advertising. It weaves a compelling narrative that resonates with viewers, drawing them into a world where creativity flourishes and enduring quality is revered. Beko’s Chief Marketing Officer, Akin Garzanli, explains, “Our campaign aims to disrupt the category and generate conversation around our durability promise”.

The Beko Inheritance Addendum

But there’s more to this campaign. Beko’s commitment to longevity extends beyond the screen. The brand introduces the Beko Inheritance Addendum, allowing owners to pass down their appliances to loved ones. It’s a clever way to emphasize not only the durability of their products but also the emotional value they hold within families.

Quality Meets Bold Storytelling

Bas Korsten, Global Chief Creative Officer of Innovation at VML, praises Beko’s attention to detail and its brave storytelling. The collaboration between client, agency, and production partners shines through, leaving us with a memorable ad that transcends the ordinary.

Beko’s murder mystery twist takes us from family drama to the heart of the kitchen, proving that sometimes, the most unexpected heirlooms are the ones we use every day.
