Bahrain participates in GCC Dialogue on Children Welfare

Represented by the Ministry of Social Development and the National Commission for Childhood, the Kingdom of Bahrain recently participated in the GCC Dialogue on Children Welfare Policies.

Exchanging Expertise To Improve Child Protection Systems

The dialogue in Abu Dhabi was organised in cooperation with the GCC General Secretariat, the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

It commenced Wednesday and continued through Thursday, offering participants an opportunity to exchange best practices, lessons learned and expertise to improve child protection systems.

The dialogue had a particular focus on increasing manpower in social work from all stakeholders to achieve stronger coordination mechanisms for child protection.

It included various sessions presented by specialists and highlighted the importance of children’s welfare policies, supporting workers in social affairs and bolstering cooperation.

The sessions covered the role of communication in enhancing child protection, protecting children in digital media and from negative influences, and preserving culture and values.

Bahrain’s Interest In Building A Safe Environment For Children

Hana Mohammad Nasser at the Ministry of Social Development of Bahrain, said the forum was a chance to exchange expertise and best practices in the field of child protection.

She noted Bahrain’s participation in the dialogue confirms the country’s interest in providing a sustainable and safe environment for children.

Moreover, she pointed out the importance of these sessions to achieve additional progress in indicators of child protection systems in the Gulf region.

The dialogue discussed best practices on child protection and reviewed Bahrain’s efforts in implementing legislation aimed at guaranteeing children’s rights.

The Kingdom’s steps were reviewed, including the establishment of the Child Protection Centre and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
