Fujairah Coast Hit by Minor 1.6 Magnitude Tremor

On October 16, 2026 a small tremor of magnitude 1.6 on the Richter scale was felt late Friday night from the offshore area of Dibba Al Fujairah. First, there was a smaller seismic trigger at about 9.38pm UAE time, and then at about 9.58pm, the Fujairah Tremor 1.6 was picked up by the National Seismic Network.

Shallow Earthquake Causes Limited Impact

The tremor was felt at an estimated depth of five km under the area off Fujairah’s east coast. Because of its small intensity, few people were likely to have experienced the Fujairah Tremor 1.6. There was no major damage as a result of the seismicity, authorities report.

No Damage or Injuries Reported

No structural damage, injuries or reported disturbance experienced due to the tremor has been reported by local authorities and emergency response teams. The National Centre of Meteorology said its monitoring systems still tracked seismic activity all over the region. Minors of this magnitude typically do not cause damage to infrastructure and residents were being informed accordingly.

The NCM’s automatic National Seismic Network keeps observing and tracking earthquakes and tremors in the UAE and neighboring countries. The recent event underscores the need for continued seismic monitoring in the eastern coast of the country. Authorities will maintain supervision over the region and issue a statement when it gets significant.
