Kuwait and Pakistan look to deepen their existing defense ties after signing the Protocol Agreement-2026. The Pakistan-Kuwait Defense Cooperation Agreement 2023 signed in Rawalpindi on August 27, also enhances defense cooperation between the two countries.

In connection with high-level discussions between the Pakistani and Kuwaiti defence participants. Kuwait Defence Minister, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Sabah Al-Sabah, along with Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Khalid Darj Saad Al-Shriaan, held talks with Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif to discuss defence and security cooperation between the two sides.

Expanding Military Training and Capacity Building

Under the new protocol, Pakistan’s armed forces will assist Kuwait’s armed forces in a number of agreed upon areas. These comprise capacity building and border management as well as military training and other aspects of defence cooperation agreed upon by both sides.

The agreement will create further institutional support between two nations for building up military professional skills and expertise. This is the most recent step of formalisation of the defence relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait. The ratification of the 22nd of July, 2023 Defence Cooperation Agreement was received by Pakistan in July, 2026, which is an important step toward further solidifying the security cooperation between the two nations.
