GCC Events Calendar: Concerts, Comedy, Cinema and Family Activities Coming Up

The region is transitioning from summer peak, and the leisure season is about to enter its fall glory days. September, and beyond, has been full of big acts, shows, theaters and immersive moments!

Shows will range from live Arabic music and K-pop, progressive rock tributes and stand-up comedy to classical music and family-friendly activities throughout Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha. Icing on the cake is the ever-changing specials that make the coming weeks so alluring to residents and visitors alike.

Major Concerts and Live Music Coming to the GCC

There are several high-profile events around that you can expect music fans to look forward to. Ahmed Saad and Disco Misr will be headlining Space42 Arena in Abu Dhabi on September 19, with Ahmed Saad’s amazing Arabic vocals and Disco Misr’s retro funky and electronic style.

K-Pop Fever at Etihad Arena Yas Island will take place on 26th September. This event is expected to be packed with energetic dances and the chart-topping Korean pop music, which will give its fans a chance to catch the Korean pop phenomenon in person.

Pink Floyd Legacy Live will also return to Doha at the end of September at the Qatar National Convention Centre or other meeting points in Doha. The event will feature an immersive experience that will recreate the progressive rock sound experience through lighting and sound effects.

Tamer Hosny, Tamer Ashour, Nancy Ajram and Russell Peters are other names that will be seen in the GCC calendar through October and November. The F1 Grand Prix days in Abu Dhabi will also see large late year concerts with artists including Lewis Capaldi, Andrea Bocelli and Zara Larsson.

Stand-Up Comedy Brings International and Regional Stars

Another big attraction of the autumn program is comedy. Taha Desouky will be performing the observational approach and his narrative techniques to Doha and other stages in the region in mid-September.

His music draws on his experiences of daily life, social life and regional quirks and can speak to those who know the realities of life in the region now.

The UAE will also be featuring an impressive roster of international and regional comedians. Jamie Lever, Munawar Faruqui, Mo Gilligan, Vir Das, Trevor Noah, Andrew Schulz and Maz Jobrani are all upcoming artists.

Cinema, Theatre and Performing Arts Take the Stage 

The cultural schedule does not solely revolve around concerts and comedy in the GCC. The Marriage of Figaro will play at Dubai Opera from September 17 to 19 in Dubai.

This production is a classical ballet adaptation of Mozart’s famed comic work composed with modern movements and arrangements in an elegant theatrical setting.

On September 18, 2021, ‘To This Land, We Belong’ Emirati Creations will be presented at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi. The world-premiere music festival honors local heritage and classical artistry with the UAE National Orchestra’s performance.

Family-Friendly and Immersive Experiences

For those seeking something fresh, there’s immersive entertainment. Pluma: Immersive Water Circus launches at Dubai Festival City Mall on 30th September.

It is a theatrical circus that unfolds a journey of a young girl visiting your imaginative skills, peek-under-the-fur-themed trapeze scenes, music and synchronized choreography of water-puff pouches. Its visual format serves as an entertainment option which can be enjoyed by a variety of age groups.

The Jury Experience and the family exhibitions are expected to be presented from mid-September to October in Doha. These programmes will feature interactive community activities, edutainment-cultuarising that will be family friendly.

The upcoming season is indicative of the growing diversity of entertainment offerings throughout the Gulf. Visitors can switch from the great outdoors arena show to the close-up comedy venue, classical concerts and family-friendly interactive shows.
