During the Khareef Dhofar 2026, Al Dahariz Beach is transforming into a major family hub offering coast cruising alongside interactive experiences and cultural entertainment. This beach is ideal for families to enjoy the cool weather of the season while embracing Omani heritage in an innovative way.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) and the Municipality of Dhofar, the events feature traditional sports, innovative and technology-enhanced experiences, exhibitions, cuisine and outdoor recreational opportunities along the coast of Al Dahariz.
Watch Traditional Omani Games
The Traditional Omani Games Championship is one of its highlights, showcasing teams from the region such as Dhofar, Al Nasr, Salalah, Taqah, Mirbat, and Al Ittihad.
Competitions are available to watch for Al Sayyad, Al Lakad and Al Yous. The games are a great way for younger visitors to experience traditional Omani sporting culture, involving agility, balance, speed and teamwork.
Kids Can Explore Heritage Through VR
The festival also makes use of technology, a VR space for the kids will help to make the festival an interactive cultural experience. For the young explore digital simulations based on the heritage of typical sports and nautical activities in Oman.
The VR installations are supported by outdoor play which involves children in supervised recreational activities in sand. The mix makes the beach a good family destination with a variety of age-appropriate activities.
Discover Dhofar’s Coastal Heritage
History enthusiasts will be able to view a photo and fine art display of Dhofar’s coastal heritage on the beachfront at the family unit. A photographic display of historic scenes, including old-timey drawings, paintings, historical ephemera and maritime imagery offer a visual orientation to the area’s heritage.
The exhibition imparts an educational component to an outing to the beach and allows the visitors to learn about their surroundings without being removed from the beach.
Food, Walks and Evening Entertainment
The Al Dahariz promenade is also an ideal place to spend a nighttime family treat. Fresh coconut water, karak tea, Omani halwa and muthbe are offered to the locals in themed food trucks and pop up kiosks.
Residents can have a dinner stroll along the coast, and eating places will offer sitting areas where you’ll be able to chill out in the dusk hours.
Best Time to Visit
Visiting hours are from 4pm to 10pm for when the weather is more comfortable. Visitors are advised to bring light waterproof clothes and foot wear as there is a possibility of Khareef drizzle.
