Salalah Eye Guide: Tickets, Operating Hours, and Best Times for Khareef Views

The Salalah Eye has soon become one of the most exciting new sights in Oman, soaring to a breathtaking landmark on the shores of Dhofar. It sits at an altitude of 55m at Al Haffa Beach making it officially the tallest observation wheel in Oman. It is meant to be used during the Khareef season, so you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Arabian Sea, lush coconut plantation and misty mountains making up Salalah’s unique summer destination.

From its countdown to the monsoon season to its development as the Al Haffa waterfront, Salalah Eye is sure to be an interesting place to visit for all types of families, couples and photographers.

Ticket Prices and Cabin Options

The 30 fully-closed and air-conditioned cabins on the observation wheel are scented with Omani frankincense to enhance the visitors’ experience. The maximum capacity of each of the cabins is for six passengers, and a full rotation takes 8–12 minutes.

• Visitors will have the option to purchase three different kinds of tickets:
• Standard Ticket: comprises the cost of a cabin rental (OMR 7 per person) in addition.
• Private Family Cabin: OMR 28 for a whole cabin to use alone.
• Early Bird Prices: OMR5-6 for rides pre 5.00 PM.
• For children under 2 years: Admission Free

Tickets will be available online through Salalah Eye’s official booking platform as well as at the venue, near the New Haffa souq.

Operating Hours & Location

During the Khareef season the Salalah Eye is open every day from 10:00 AM till 11:00 PM, providing ample opportunity for visitors to make plans for their ride to the eye.

The beach attraction is situated on a promenade along Al Haffa Beach, close to the recently-developed Haffa Souq, allowing visitors to enjoy both sightseeing and shopping and eating. About an 8-minute drive from Salalah city centre and a 12 minute drive from Salalah International Airport with nearby convenient parking.

Best Times to Experience the Salalah Eye

The best times to visit the Salalah Eye are during the spring and fall, as well as late summer and early fall.

Clear sight of the green mountains of Dhofar and the seashore are best at Early Afternoon (4:00 PM–6:00 PM). Another advantage for visitors is that they can access Early Bird ticket prices, which are lower than regular ticket prices, and shorter lines.

Riding at sunset (5.30 PM – 6.45 PM) is the best time of the day! The blend of Khareef mist, gentle golden radiations and rolling clouds of clouds creates stunning visuals over the Arabian Sea along with Al Haffa beach.

At night (7:30pm–10pm), the attraction is transformed into a lively, nighttime landmark. The wheel is lit up with alley-catching eye-catching LED colours and at night visitors can all enjoy fantastic light-shining views of the impressively lit up Haffa Souq and the waterfront as a whole.

Visitor Tips

It’s worth noting that the Salalah Eye has been optimised for the Khareef season. As opposed to other observation wheels around the world, its cabins are weather-proofed and climate controlled, and continue to function during light monsoon rains and mists.

For a greater benefit of the visit, consider taking a debander ride in the late afternoon then head to nearby Souq New Haffa for Omani frankincense, local handicrafts, authentic street food, and cafés.
