Dubai making global headlines for green hydrogen production

Dubai’s Green Hydrogen project has produced around 90 tonnes of green hydrogen since its launch in May 2021. Most of this hydrogen has been used to produce green energy, reducing about 450 tonnes of carbon emissions.
The Green Hydrogen project is the first-of-its-kind in the Mena region to produce green hydrogen using solar energy. The project produces about 20 kg of hydrogen per hour and its gas tank can store up to 12 hours of hydrogen produced using solar energy.
The project has been designed and built to accommodate future applications and test platforms for different uses of hydrogen, including the air, land and sea transport sectors and other industries, according to official media reports.
Dubai Green Hydrogen Project: Climate Change In Focus
Dubai’s Green Hydrogen project promotes the UAE’s efforts to diversify energy resources and meet the National Hydrogen Strategy, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050.
The UAE seeks to meet 100% of the energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050. The green hydrogen is produced through electrolysis using clean energy sources. Dubai has become a global benchmark for solar energy prices.
The Emirati leadership has a prominent focus on climate action. Dubai hosted the COP28 Summit in 2023. Thousands of participants from across the globe attended the annual climate conference, seeking to find solutions to some of the most pressing challenges.
