In recent years Europe has recorded a surge of tourists traveling to the continent through Schengen countries like Austria, Belgium, Croatia, and Bulgaria, etc. European airports are catering to the influx of tourists and have time and again changed rules in regards to the luggage or baggage that travelers can get into the country.

Keeping in line with this, Qatar has announced a new hand baggage rule that has been made into effect on September 1, 2024. People traveling from Qatar to Schengen countries need to abide by the maximum 100ml per container rule. This new rule has been implemented in line with the announcement by the European Council that they have limited the amount of liquid travelers can carry on the aircraft in response to threat.

The restrictions are temporary on liquid screening at EU airports where Explosive Detection Systems for Cabin Baggage (EDSCB) are used. These systems currently allow travelers to carry liquid containers. The regulator said airports that do not have EDSCB equipment or have already limited liquids to 100ml will not be affected. The new hand baggage rule is just a precautionary measure.
