UAE Digital School to improve quality of education for 100,000 students in Iraqi Kurdistan

Initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Digital School and the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government have unveiled a fresh phase of partnership – aimed at supporting 100,000 students in need.

Backed by Dubai Cares, the phase seeks to improve quality of education for tens of thousands of students through advanced digital education services and methodologies in three years, significantly bolstering the school’s objective to benefit people across the globe.

The phase includes initiatives to train digital teachers, develop a digital education platform in the Kurdish language, enhance the region’s official education curriculum by transforming it into interactive digital content and establish digital education spaces within schools.

In addition, the fresh phase seeks to provide digital education tools, including over 1,650 computers and projectors, to facilitate effective learning environments. It highlights the UAE leadership’s efforts to provide the best educational options for students.

Disseminating digital skills among children and youth

The latest phase of partnership between UAE’s Digital School and the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government aims to build upon the successes of the first phase, initiated in January 2022. Both governments are keen to expand ties and explore greater horizons.

The first phase marked the implementation of several digital education programmes and teacher training initiatives, besides the establishment of digital education centres. These efforts covered more than 14 schools and about 4,400 students.

Furthermore, the phase noted the distribution of electronic devices and conduct of training courses for teachers. One of the fundamental goals of this partnership is supporting students in Iraqi Kurdistan through advanced and future education opportunities.

The primary objective is to offer students the necessary skills to confront future challenges. The Chief Executive of Dubai Cares said the latest development marks “another milestone in our commitment to providing sound education and disseminating digital skills.”

UAE promoting an inclusive learning environment

Tariq Al Gurg added: “By embracing technology in education, we are paving the way towards a brighter and more prosperous future, where children and youth are empowered to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world,” reported the Emirates News Agency.

“This programme also embodies our commitment to promoting an inclusive learning environment and creating opportunities for the next generation to unleash their full potential, with the aim of enabling them to achieve academic excellence, realise their aspirations …”

Initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed in November 2020, the Digital School is the first integrated digital School of its kind. It offers a qualitative option for hybrid and remote learning in a smart and flexible manner, targeting underserved societal groups.

UAE’s Digital School continues to expand. It is currently serving more than 160,000 beneficiary students in over 13 countries. It has also trained scores of digital teachers, with educational and training content provided in English, Arabic, Spanish and French.
