Official statistics show that more than 376,000 people visited Al Rawda Al Sharifa. According to statistics from the governmental organization in charge of overseeing the site, the Prophet’s Mosque which is the second holiest place in Islam in the Saudi city of Medina welcomed 5.4 million worshippers and tourists last week amidst a smooth network of services and care.
According to the General Authority for the Care of the Prophet’s Mosque 376,765 Muslims attended and offered prayers at the Prophet Mohammed’s (Peace Be Upon Him) grave at Al Rawda Al Sharifa. Men and women had different schedules for the visits which adhered to crowd-management procedures.
Saudi officials have underlined over and again that in order to ensure easy entrance, guests visiting Al Rawda Al Sharifa must make reservations in advance and come at the appointed hour. According to a weekly update from the organization 31,739 worshippers who do not speak Arabic took advantage of the mosque’s multilingual communication facilities in the last week. More than 24,000 liters of disinfectant were used throughout the sterilization and disinfection process across the mosque. Worshippers also received 1,480 tons of Zamzam water and 136,283 Iftar (fast-breaking) meals were given out at specific mosque locations.
