Doha Metro and Lusail Tram are the award-winning metro and tram services in the world. Doha metro was first launched in 2019 and Lusail tram was launched in 2022. The Doha metro is operated seven days a week. The timings on Saturdays to Wednesdays are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., on Thursdays it is 6am to midnight, on Fridays the running time is between 2pm to midnight. Doha Metro has three different lines with different stations for each.

To the newcomers and the people who live in Doha, the facilities offered by the Doha metro succeeds in attracting them with their premium amenities. Anyone who is interested in exploring the tourist destiny and other places of Doha can apply for the Doha Metro Travel Card. It offers the first five days of free rides on the Doha Metro. The following methods can be utilised to apply for the metro card which will be valuable till December 15, 2024.
There are two types of Metro Travel cards in Doha metro, they are Standard, and Gold club. The Standard Travel Card can be utilised by regular travellers and it can be used in all metro lines of Doha including golden lines. The Gold Club travel card can access the Gold Class and they provide a premium amenities. These Doha metro cards are available in Metro Stations, Retail Outlets, Online Purchase.
Metro Stations
In all the Doha metro stations (TVM) the Ticket Vending Machines are available and one can purchase their travel card from it.
Insert your cash or credit card into the machine.
Select the type of card you wish to purchase.
You can select the amount to credit as a top-up. The minimum top-up amount is 10 QAR.
You can collect both the card and receipt.
There are licensed retailers like Al Meera, LuLu, and Carrefour from there you can get your metro card.
Online Mode
In the online mode you can apply either in the official website of Qatar Railways or through their mobile app. After applying the Doha metro travel card both the newly registered and the current users can follow the process which are as follows
Create a new account before logging in.
Go to the option “Manage Travel Card”.
Now click “Add Card”.
Enter the last 11 digits of your travel card number.
The amount to be paid for this process is 99 QR, regular fare is 120 QR. You must register the travel card only then you can use the metro pass. It is valid until December 15, 2024 and the first five journeys are free but it is applicable only for three months after the activation of the metro card. These offers are implemented to attract the people to use the public transport which promotes betterment of the country’s economy and an unique strategy of tourism attraction.
