Bray Wyatt, the 2017 WWE Champion, has left the wrestling entertainment fraternity shocking by unexpectedly passing away at just the age of 36. The cause of death has not been revealed.
WWE honored Wyatt as the defining superstar of his generation. “Known for his captivating performances and incredible in-ring presence, Wyatt was a defining Superstar of his generation and accomplished many feats in WWE, including becoming WWE Champion in 2017.”
Triple H took to X, a microblogging platform, to share the tragic news. “Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed away.”
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson also shared the heartbreaking news. “Always had tremendous respect and love for him and the Rotunda family. Loved his presence, promos, in ring work and connection with WWE universe.” The wrestler turned Hollywood actor described Bray Wyatt as a very unique, cool and rare character, which is hard to create in the crazy world of pro wrestling.
In his last WWE press conference, Wyatt spoke passionately about taking risks and doing it because he wanted to leave a legacy. He believed that was the beautiful thing about pro wrestling, that there was something for everyone.

Wyatt, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda, began his career with WWE under the organization’s developmental brand NXT in 2010 under the moniker of Husky Harris. In 2014, he emerged as the cult leader Bray Wyatt of the Wyatt Family faction whose members included Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman. Wyatt was seen as one of the premiere talkers of his generation. He sent the crowd into a tizzy with “follow the buzzards” (catchphrase), and singing “he’s got the whole world in his hands”.
Wyatt is survived by his partner JoJo Offerman, and two children from a previous relationship.
