What is Ayyamul Bidh fasting in the Hijri calendar and when is it to be followed?

Ayyamul Bidh fasting is a sunnah fast observed for three days in the middle of the month on the Hijri calendar. That is every 13th, 14th and 15th of the Hijri month except for Tasyrik day which falls on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. Ayyamul Bidh fasting follows the same approach as required and other sunnah fasting. Fasting begins at daybreak and continues until dusk. 

For the year 2025, the corresponding dates for Ayyamul Bidh fasting are approximately as follows:

  1. Muharram: September 8, 9, 10, 2025
  2. Safar: October 8, 9, 10, 2025
  3. Rabi’ al-Awwal: November 6, 7, 8, 2025
  4. Rabi’ al-Thani: December 6, 7, 8, 2025
  5. Jumada al-Awwal: January 5, 6, 7, 2026
  6. Jumada al-Thani: February 4, 5, 6, 2026
  7. Rajab: March 5, 6, 7, 2026
  8. Sha’ban: April 3, 4, 5, 2026
  9. Ramadan: May 3, 4, 5, 2026
  10. Shawwal: June 1, 2, 3, 2026
  11. Dhul-Qi’dah: June 30, July 1, 2, 2026
  12. Dhul-Hijjah: July 29, 30, 31, 2026

These dates can vary slightly depending on the sighting of the moon, so it’s always good to check with your local Islamic authority for confirmation.
