5 Visa-Free Quick Getaways from Dubai and Abu Dhabi for the Upcoming August Long Weekend

The UAE is supposed to have a three-day extended weekend around the time of the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday in August 2026. Authorities are likely to move the public holiday to Monday (Aug 24) so that residents will have a longer break July 22 to Aug 24.

With increased demand for travelling, UAE citizens are seeking places that do not require long visa application processes or travelling and visa appointments at UAE embassies. There are a couple of interesting places which are within 5 hours from Dubai and Abu Dhabi which are perfect for spontaneously going out at the weekend.

Salalah, Oman

Flight Time: 2 hours

Entry Requirement: Not required for most nationalities and visitors from the GCC area.

The famous Khareef season makes Salalah one of the popular places to visit in UAE during August. But Salalah becomes a veritable garden of Eden, with waterfalls, misty mountains and cool weather in abundance, while the rest of the Gulf basks in temperatures exceeding 45°C.
