Apollo Go App Guide: How to Hail Dubai’s Cheap Dh5 Robotaxis in Jumeirah Right Now
Dubai has moved into a new era of smart cars with the launch of its smart transport selling. The fully driverless ride, which has been rolled out by RTA Dubai, Dubai Taxi Company and Apollo Go, Dubai’s partnership with China’s leading technology firm Baidu, is available for residents and visitors, and currently comes with a special rate of Dh5 per trip.
The service is not being tried, but it is available to users in certain zones. The deployment aligns with Dubai’s vision to transform urban mobility through artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, and its open innovation approach exemplified by Al Ibex, as part of the city’s roadmap towards better mobility.
Where Are the Robotaxis Operating?
In the first phase of its introduction the autonomous taxi company is only providing services in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim areas.
You need to pick up and drop off within these areas of operation. In the future, more vehicles are slated to be added to the project, with more neighbourhoods likely to be added to the mix across Dubai.
Meet the RT6 Driverless Vehicle
The robotaxi fleet is now in the test phase with 50 autonomous robotaxi vehicles, featuring over 40 state-of-the-art sensing technologies, including LiDAR, high precision cameras and multiple radar sets.
These technologies can constantly track lanes, people, road signs and unanticipated obstacles and direct the path of the vehicle without a person behind the wheel.
How Much Does It Cost?
To incentivize public use in the initial implementation stage, all the autonomous taxi journeys now have a one-time promotional fare of Dh5 for the passengers.
The low pricing makes this one of the most convenient modes of transport for Dubai residents and tourists alike to embrace next-generation transportation.
Step-by-Step Guide to Booking an Apollo Go Robotaxi
Step 1: Download the Apollo Go App
Now, download the official Apollo Go app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store by searching for the app. Before signing up for the Web app, download and install it on your cell phone.
Step 2: Register Your Account
Register with your UAE mobile phone. Follow the SMS procedure and put your preferred payment method online as auto-fare processing would be available after every trip.
Step 3: Select Your Pickup and Destination
Log into the app and type in your pick up address and drop-off address. The booking will allow for trips to begin and end within the existing zones of service in Jumeirah, and Umm Suqeim.
Step 4: Confirm Your Ride
If you make a booking that’s accepted, the app will show you the vehicle you have been assigned, along with the expected arrival time. Current status of the car’s locomotion can be tracked before it arrives at pick up point.
Step 5: Unlock the Vehicle
Once the robotaxi has arrived, unlock the doors with digital controls in the Apollo Go app. The autonomous system then self-manages the trip as the rider sits at the controls all along, keeping a close watch on the road.
Dubai’s Long-Term Autonomous Vision
Currently, 50 robot cars are being deployed, just the start of it. Under the Dubai Self-Driving Transport Strategy, Dubai is also looking to have over 1,000 autonomous taxis available in the city over the next few years, where 25% of all trips will be taken using such vehicles by 2030.
This project aims to foster safer streets, intelligent traffic systems and alleviate congestion on Dubai’s roads and deliver a huge boost for the city’s reputation as a global leader in transport innovations.
