UAE Youth Claim Gold and Silver at Spanish Championship
Young badminton players from the UAE have had a remarkable outing at the Spanish International U19 Badminton Championships, where they claimed a total of five medals and stamped the UAE as a strong competitor on the badminton world stage.
Riyan Malhan, who is only 15 years old, earned the gold medal in Men’s Singles after disregarding several very keen competitors in the category. Adam Jeslin, who is also under 15, won the silver medal in Men’s Singles, and that was notable for the UAE team as a mark of success – multiple medal winners.
In Women’s Singles, Prakriti Bharath defended her title again with an undefeated run to claim yet another gold medal. After an impressive tournament, Mysha Omer held the fort for the UAE and earned the silver medal. Jeslin and Omer also nabbed bronze in Mixed Doubles.
The team’s 5 medals and contributions across various disciplines propelled the United Arab Emirates ahead of badminton powerhouses such as Germany, Thailand and Denmark. To have success like this spotlights UAE Badminton High-Performance Programme and the continued progress in support from the Ministry of Sports.
UAE Badminton Federation President – Noura Al Jasmi said this, “The players show what can be achieved when young athletes receive the right pathways, coaching, support, and hard work.”
