Strengthening the UAE’s Humanitarian Legacy: Dh370 Billion in Global Aid and Compassion
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) remains in the front line of humanitarian intervention by offering more than Dh370 billion in assistance to more than one billion individuals across the world. This was proclaimed by Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State of International Cooperation, in the Emirates International Press Conference, and it shows that since the UAE has always held the view that humanitarian efforts are not just a choice, but an obligation that has the national identity interwoven in it. Following the founding vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and supported by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the humanistic-oriented diplomacy in the UAE has been further uniting and empowering communities in need. Global Humanitarian Vision: Compassion Without Borders
The global aid programs of the UAE are a reflection of the commitment which is not based on statistics and geography. The country has more than 40 charity organizations that work in more than 80+ countries offering essential aid to those areas hit by wars, hunger, and natural disasters. The humanitarian outreach of the UAE is compassionate and is also strategic in nature as the country has assisted in sending 100,000 tonnes of relief into Gaza, evacuation of the medical personnel in crisis areas, the eradication of polio in Pakistan, among others. Also, its presence as an acceptable mediator, observed in prisoner exchanges and relief operations in Ukraine, Yemen, Sudan and Afghanistan, contributes to its leverage in fostering peace and resilience.
Humanitarian Infrastructure and Global Collaboration
The UAE has been successful in its humanitarian leadership due to the well-built institutional and logistical structures. Dubai is a world humanitarian centre and is home to over 80 international agencies and is coordinating massive relief efforts especially in the COVID-19 pandemic. The establishment of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council has also enhanced the ability of the country to act quickly in case of any global crisis. The UAE, through proactive collaborations with other international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), remains to build its message of unity, human dignity, and collective responsibility, which is compassion is a universal language that unites countries.
