UAE aid collection campaign for Lebanon collects 1,100 tonnes of relief supplies so far

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, Ruler’s Representative in the al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent authority, recently participated in the aid collection drive in the Uae capital in support of the people of Lebanon.

The event, as part of the Uae Stands with Lebanon campaign, helped gather 150 tonnes of food and medical supplies and shelter equipment. Nearly 2,287 volunteers participated in the event, highlighting the sense of generosity running through the Emirati society.

Uae keen on restoring security and stability in Lebanon

Reem al-Hashimy, minister of state for international cooperation; Omar al-Olama, minister of state for AI, digital economy and remote work applications; and Dr Hamdan Musallam al Mazrouei, chairman of the board of directors of ERC, also attended.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan underscored the social solidarity and institutional coordination that marked the campaign right from the beginning, indicating the cohesive approach to humanitarian issues among the Emirati community in all its diversity.

The Uae aid campaign for Lebanon started on October 8 2024, as per the directives of President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. To date, the drive has collected a total of 1,100 tonnes of materials. The Uae has dispatched 13 relief aid planes to Lebanon.

The Uae is keen on restoring security and stability in Lebanon at the earliest. The Gulf state understands the importance of humanitarian aid to assist the people of Lebanon facing intense hardships and mass displacements.

Reflection of the spirit of brotherhood and human values

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, Ruler’s Representative in the al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent authority, highlighted that the Uae Stands ith Lebanon campaign is a true reflection of the spirit of brotherhood and human values.

This emanates from the solid foundations set by the founding father late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan. The humanitarian drive for Lebanon has already transported tonnes of relief materials, including food and medical supplies, shelter equipment and other essentials.
