The UAE moon-sighting committee wants Muslims in the country to look for the crescent moon on Monday evening, which is the 29th day of Ramadan, April 8, 2024. If you see the crescent moon, you should call 026921166 to find out where to go and share what you saw.

According to the International Astronomy Center, Ramadan will probably last for thirty days this year. They think Eid Al Fitr will be on Wednesday, April 10, for countries that start looking for the crescent on Monday, April 8.But on April 8, it will be hard to see the crescent moon because it will set before the sun, and it will be too dark after sunset.

Countries that began Ramadan on March 11, 2024, will try to find the crescent moon on Monday, April 8. But other countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Oman, Jordan, Libya and Morocco.  Which started Ramadan on March 12, will look for the crescent moon on Tuesday, April 9, which is the 29th day of Ramadan for them.​

Eid Al Fitr Date by Moon sighting Committee

Similar to Ramadan, the start date of Eid Al Fitr will be confirmed by the UAE’s Moon-sighting committee, consisting of astronomers, court officials and advisers from the Emirates’ Islamic authority.

Their task involves searching for the new crescent moon, indicating the beginning of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar.
