Sharjah Launches 140-Tonne Winter Relief Shipment for Gaza

Sharjah Charity International has sent 140 tonnes of vital winter supplies to help vulnerable families in the Gaza Strip. The shipment is part of the Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 in the UAE, which is being implemented in a synchronised manner with the current Operation in Gaza, under “Warm Winter for Gaza”.

Winter Aid Gaza Shipment Inspected Before Departure

Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of SCI’s Board of Directors, examined the humanitarian cargo shipment at the Cargo Village at SCI’s Sharjah International Airport before it left on a specially chartered aircraft. The airlift is a part of Sharjah’s initiatives for assisting the families in the event of tough winters.

Winter Aid Gaza Cargo Includes 50000 Clothing Items

Some 50,000 winter clothing items for children, women and men are in the package, which weighs around 140 tonnes. It also brings with it heavy blankets, heating materials, essential food, and gives them much needed relief in times of hard weather and humanitarian problems for families.

Winter Aid Gaza Campaign Relies on Community Support

The supplies collected were through individual voluntary donations from Emirati citizens and residents who helped out for the campaign conducted by SCI. Through their contributions, they continue to embody the importance of community support for humanitarian efforts and show the power of local contributions in helping families in need beyond the UAE.

Winter Aid Gaza Efforts Add to UAE Relief

This latest air-lift is part of the UAE’s overall humanitarian efforts to have provided over 136,000 tonnes of relief in Gaza. This is around 46 per cent of all international aid that is provided to the territory. The UAE has been working on coordinated efforts, and unabated community contributions, to support the delivery of life-saving commodities to the affected families.
