Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim, the Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is heading the Kingdom’s delegation at the World Economic Forum’s 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, a major port city in northeastern People’s Republic of China.
The World Economic Forum’s 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions started on Tuesday in China. It will run until 29 June under the theme of “Entrepreneurship: The Driving Force of the Global Economy”.
More than 1,500 global leaders from business, private sector, public sector, government, international organizations and civil society have gathered in Tianjin, China, to attend the WEF Meeting of New Champions.
The Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning is one of more than 1,500 global leaders who are attending the event in China. The leaders aim to find solutions to critical global challenges by participating in the gathering. The leaders are also set to discuss various topics of common interest and the latest international economic developments.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Faisal Alibrahim is set to hold various high-level bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the WEF Meeting of New Champions with several senior officials. He is also set to announce ten winners of the “Innovation Challenge to Contribute to Enhancing Food Security in Arid Areas” launched this year in partnership with UpLink, the innovation platform for people and planet by the World Economic Forum, an international non-governmental organisation for multinational companies.
During the annual meeting, the “Innovation Challenge to Contribute to Enhancing Food Security in Arid Areas” program is set to launch another creative challenge to mobilize transformative solutions to countries affected by rain scarcity, drought and desertification.
On the second day of the World Economic Forum’s 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC), the leaders talked about various issues ranging from the energy transition to safeguarding nature and climate.
